Upgrade or change your plan
Move between plans any time. Start a paid subscription from the trial, jump up a tier when traffic grows, drop down if it shrinks, switch between monthly and yearly, or cancel. Everything routes through Stripe Checkout or the Stripe Billing Portal, so card details and tax stay on Stripe's side.
From Free Trial to a paid plan
The first transition most accounts make.
- Open Settings → Plan & Billing.
- Review the available tiers. Each shows pageview cap, monthly price, and yearly price with the discount applied.
- Click Choose plan on the tier you want.
- You're redirected to a hosted Stripe Checkout page.
- Enter card details (or use a saved Stripe payment method, Apple Pay, Google Pay, or Link).
- Confirm. Stripe charges immediately and bounces you back to the dashboard with the new plan active.
The trial isn't paused or carried over. Once Checkout completes, the account is on a paid plan from that moment, with the trial replaced cleanly. No refund for unused trial days (the trial was free).
Change plan on an active subscription
Already on a paid plan and want to move? The dashboard takes a different path that doesn't require fresh Checkout:
- Settings → Plan & Billing → Change plan.
- Pick the new tier.
- Confirm.
The change applies immediately with proration enabled. Stripe calculates the unused portion of the current period at the old rate, the remaining portion at the new rate, and charges or credits the difference automatically:
- Upgrade. Charged the prorated difference immediately. Higher pageview cap takes effect right away.
- Downgrade. Credited the prorated difference toward your next invoice. Lower cap applies right away.
Switching cadence (monthly to yearly or vice versa) works the same way. Proration handles the math.
Cancel a subscription
Cancel from the Stripe Customer Portal:
- Settings → Plan & Billing → Manage. The dashboard opens your Stripe portal session.
- Click Cancel subscription.
- Confirm.
Cancellation is non-immediate by default. Your subscription stays active through the end of the period you already paid for. On the period-end date, Stripe flips it to canceled, fires a webhook, and Statable downgrades the account. You keep premium features until the end of the billing period.
After cancellation:
- During the remainder of the period. Full access. No banner pressure.
- After the period ends. Statable enters a 60-day grace window. Tracking continues with limits, the dashboard prompts to resubscribe, historical data is preserved.
- After grace. Premium features lock. Data is still retained until you delete the account.
If your account qualifies for hobby-tier free access (.edu, .github.io, or .gitlab.io), those sites continue under Free Access indefinitely after cancellation. Cancel only affects the paid portion.
Reactivate
Changed your mind during the period before cancellation takes effect? You can undo it without losing anything:
- Settings → Plan & Billing → Manage. The dashboard opens your Stripe portal session.
- Click Reactivate subscription.
- Confirm.
The cancellation flag is removed, the subscription continues normally, and the next renewal happens on its scheduled date.
If the period has already ended and you're in grace, Reactivate isn't available. Start a new subscription via Choose plan on the billing page. It re-creates a Stripe subscription from scratch, but your sites and historical data are preserved.
When changes take effect
| Action | Effect timing |
|---|---|
| Trial → paid (Checkout) | Immediate on payment success |
| Upgrade tier | Immediate, prorated charge |
| Downgrade tier | Immediate, prorated credit |
| Monthly ↔ yearly | Immediate, prorated |
| Cancel | End of current period |
| Reactivate (before period end) | Immediate |
| Resubscribe (after period end, in grace) | Immediate via new Checkout |
What you can't do from the dashboard
A handful of actions live in the Stripe Billing Portal: updating card details, changing billing address for tax, downloading PDF invoices, viewing payment history. See Invoices & billing portal.
